Polymer demand in China, Vietnam hit by slower economic growth

Players in both China and Vietnam report that polymer demand in their respective countries has been slowed by weakness in the construction sector and slower than expected economic growth rates, as per Chemorbis. Both traders and converters complained that their sales have dropped significantly when compared with the same period in the past year as a result of the disappointingly sluggish economic environment. According to local media reports, investment in ChinaÂ’s property market is slowing down while sales of new houses are declining as reduced economic growth and government efforts to constrain inflation in the countryÂ’s property sector have reined in construction activity

IDB to boost competitiveness of Mexico?s petrochemical sector with US$600 mln loan to Braskem-Idesa

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a US$300 million A Loan complemented by a syndicated B loan of approximately US$300 million to finance Etileno XXI, MexicoÂ’s biggest private petrochemical project, a Braskem-Idesa joint venture. The loan will be granted to Braskem-Idesa S.A.P.I., a joint venture by BrazilÂ’s Braskem SA and MexicoÂ’s Grupo Idesa, to develop, build and operate an integrated petrochemical complex.

Uhde Inventa-Fischer commissions polyamide 6.6 plant for Huafon Group

Uhde Inventa-Fischer has successfully commissioned a plant for the production of polyamide 6.6 for its Chinese customer Huafon Group. The production plant has an annual capacity of 40,000 tons and is located at Huafon`s company headquarters in the city of Ruian in Zhejiang Province, PR China. Uhde Inventa-Fischer`s energy-efficient, resource-saving and cost-reducing PA 6.6 technology enables Huafon to produce high-quality granulate, which can be used for all applications, such as textiles, tyre cord, engineering plastics and also co-polymers.

Milacron expands production of Magna Servo Machines to USA from India

Milacron Plastics Technologies, a U.S.-based, worldwide supplier of plastics-processing technologies, recently expanded the production of its Magna Servo injection molding machines from India to include the United States. The company will display this technology at its NPE Booth (West Hall, #2803). The Magna Servo machines were developed by Ferromatik Milacron India, Milacron’s Indian affiliate, and have been in production there since 2008.

As Formosa prepares to restart, another fire breaks out at Mailiao petrochemical complex

A fire, the eight this year, broke out at a refinery on Tuesday at Formosa Plastics Group (FPG)Â’s Mailiao petrochemical complex, that was put out in about 20 minutes, without affecting any manufacturing equipment, inflicting no harm to any person and posing no other threats. As per the management, the blaze started when transporting alkylate.
