Recycling efforts increase post-consumer plastic packaging by 15% across Canada

The Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) released a new report informing Canadians that their recycling efforts have increased the amount of post-consumer plastic packaging being recycled across Canada. An additional 15% of plastic packaging was recycled in 2010 compared to 2009 as reported by Moore Recycling Associates Inc.

Odisha expedites establishment of plastic, polymer & allied cluster

Odisha state government has put a proposed plastic, polymer and allied cluster in Baleswar on a first track basis. To be built with an investment of Rs 82 crore, it is targeted to be commissioned by end of December 2012, on the outskirts of Baleswar town involving three areas such as Ganeswarpur, Somnathpur and Balgopalpur with the initiatives of IDCO.

A new line of flexible vinyl compounds made bio-based plasticizers

BioVinyl, a new line of flexible vinyl compounds made from DOW ECOLIBRIUM bio-based plasticizers, has been developed by Teknor Apex. The compounds have been fabricated for manufacturers, who look for minimizing the carbon footprint of their products. Polybutylene terephthalate which incorporates up-cycled post-consumer recycled content

SABICÂ’s Innovative Plastics business announced a major new sustainability milestone with its longstanding customer, Volvo Trucks: the first use of an up-cycled material in a North American heavy truck from post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. Specifically, SABICÂ’s Valox iQ* polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin, which incorporates up-cycled water bottles, is used for the brackets of the side air deflection system for all seven models in the 2012 Volvo VN platform of heavy trucks.
