BASF to build butadiene extraction plant in Antwerp

BASF plans to build a butadiene extraction plant at its Verbund site in Antwerp, Belgium. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 155,000 metric tons and is scheduled to start up during 2014.

Odisha expedites establishment of plastic, polymer & allied cluster

Odisha state government has put a proposed plastic, polymer and allied cluster in Baleswar on a first track basis. To be built with an investment of Rs 82 crore, it is targeted to be commissioned by end of December 2012, on the outskirts of Baleswar town involving three areas such as Ganeswarpur, Somnathpur and Balgopalpur with the initiatives of IDCO.

PlasChem Parks planned at Jubail & Yanbu II for industrial services to refineries, petrochem and downstream plants

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu plans to construct two PlasChem Parks in Jubail and Yanbu Industrial Cities II to provide numerous industrial services in term of material availability, access to customers, and investor technical support; to all new refineries, petrochemical, and downstream plants to be built in those areas, as per Arab News. These PlasChem Parks are a combined initiative of the Royal Commission, the industries, and Government bodies. They are also expected to attract the plastic downstream conversion industries, to house the downstream chemical manufacturers, and to provide common services & facilities.

Sinopec, SABIC JV for 260,000 tpa PC complex in Tianjin

Sinopec SABIC Tianjin Petrochemical Company (SSTPC) laid the foundation for a polycarbonate production complex with 260,000 tpa capacity, at a groundbreaking ceremony in the Tianjin Binhai New Area. China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) have earlier cooperated on an ethylene production project with a capacity of one million tpa. With two sets of phosgene free production systems, with an annual capacity of 130,000 ton each to be built, the new polycarbonate production complex started construction yesterday (April 3) and is expected to be operational in 2015.

SABIC and Sinopec sign Protocol of Cooperation to explore new opportunities

Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and in the presence of China Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) signed a Protocol of Cooperation in Riyadh to explore new business opportunities and confirm their commitment to the principles reached in earlier agreements, including one on polycarbonate collaboration which has been approved by ChinaÂ’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). The Protocol sets the foundation for a joint investment from both SABIC and Sinopec to build the new polycarbonate production complex with an annual capacity of 260 kilo metric tons.
