Polybutylene terephthalate which incorporates up-cycled post-consumer recycled content

SABICÂ’s Innovative Plastics business announced a major new sustainability milestone with its longstanding customer, Volvo Trucks: the first use of an up-cycled material in a North American heavy truck from post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. Specifically, SABICÂ’s Valox iQ* polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) resin, which incorporates up-cycled water bottles, is used for the brackets of the side air deflection system for all seven models in the 2012 Volvo VN platform of heavy trucks.

Shaw in alliance with Total to jointly market and license polystyrene technology worldwide

The Shaw Group Inc. has announced it has formed an exclusive alliance with Total Petrochemicals to jointly market and license Total PetrochemicalsÂ’ polystyrene technology on a worldwide basis. The alliance is based on a licensing cooperation agreement recently signed by the two companies.

More exhibitors at NPE 2012, larger booths, more equipment, more resin suppliers, more visitors

With five weeks left before opening day, the NPE2012 international plastics exposition is on course to be a huge, dynamic event, in line with NPE successes of the past and substantially stronger than the last NPE in 2009, it was announced today by SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, which produces the triennial trade show. Thus far 1,830 companies have purchased 903,000 sq.ft. (83,890 sq.m) of exhibit space at NPE2012, and commitments by more companies can be expected between now and opening day, according to Gene Sanders, SPIÂ’s senior vice president of trade shows and conferences
